About us

1985 - In a little terrace house in the back of Paddington, a group of about 8 very enthusiastic and motivated Dental Hygienists met and began the processes of forming this association and faced many big challenges.

The first was that the majority of dentists of NSW were either anti-hygienist or totally unaware that dental hygienists existed.  Secondly, this courageous  group faced the political aspect of making our profession of Dental Hygiene recognised within the State of NSW.  And lastly they formed and legalised this professional association and further succeeded in developing the National Dental Hygiene Association of  Australia in 1991.

2010 - With over 150 full members and student members of DHAA-NSW Branch Inc. and three Dental Hygiene training facilities, NSW has become one of the largest dental hygiene associations in Australia.

As we continue to grow, we rely once again on the heartfelt dedication, enthusiasm, and hard work of all our members who volunteer and give so much of themselves.

We are Dental Hygienists working for Dental Hygienists
